The Port Arthur City Council named Ronald Burton as the City Manager in a special meeting held on November 13, 2019 in Executive Session. Mr. Burton has been with the City of Port Arthur since August 6, 2008, starting his career as Assistant Director of Planning and Grants Management. In June 2013, Planning, Zoning, and Grants Management was changed to the Department of Development Services, and Mr. Burton was selected as the director. Soon after that appointment, Mr. Burton was named as Acting Assistant City Manager of Operations in early December 2017; his permanent appointment as the ACM-Operations was made effective on December 27, 2017.

Mr. Burton hails as a multi-disciplinary municipal professional and coach with eleven (11) plus years of senior management experience. He has provided critical leadership in the public sector; shares a vision of creating great communities through innovative planning, formation of partnerships and strategic growth. Mr. Burton brings the experience to integrate sustainable economic development and community development tenets into an organization's analytical, policy, procedural and operational framework.

His expertise in the public sector has armed him for the stage ahead. Congratulations to Mr. Ronald Burton in his new duties as the Port Arthur City Manager!
