[ARCHIVED] Construction Update: South 11th and Greenwich-Sabine Pass

Utility Operations and Sabine Pass business and residential customers are elated for the first stage in replacing damaged water lines. "We have to celebrate the victories, no matter how small they seem.", is the sentiment of the (A) Director of Utility Operations. The Pipe Bursting Supervisor and his team were finally able, between thunderstorms, to make a critical tie-in by the Sabine Pass Motel after pulling in a new section of pipe through the old line. They encountered a few bad spots that were causing chronic issues in that area, and replaced it with pipe that has no joints. Today, they will go about renewing the customer taps along that section. The Utility Operations Department has a regular meeting today where to consider the milestones that have been set, reevaluate, and update plans and strategies for Sabine Pass (Utilities). The new pipe is bedded in crushed rock so that it stays in place. Water crews plan to continue to work in that immediate area, where they have found several major issues, and plan to renew the whole system. "I have no doubt that once we are finished, this material will last for the better part of 100 years."
