The City of Port Arthur Department of Parks and Recreation held its 3rd Annual Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Barbara Jacket Park. The Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt is the same as the traditional Easter egg hunt, except the hunt began at dusk. Participants used flashlights to search for over 15,000 candy-filled eggs, with a chance to hunt golden eggs with tickets for special prizes.

The day began with registration assisted by the Memorial High School National Honor Society and Kappa League members. Once registered, food and games began. Partygoers chose from a menu with nachos, BBQ links, chips, popcorn, refreshing snow cones from Kona Ice, and a sweet treat of cookies and cupcakes.

The community enjoyed sack race games against officers from the Port Arthur Police Department and an on-site fire engine tour provided by the Port Arthur Fire Department. The Port Arthur chapter of Top Teens of America provided face painting and arts and crafts for all to enjoy. There was live music and an extraordinary guest mascot, the Easter Bunny, with whom families captured sweet moments.
