UPDATE 6: Port Arthur Public Services Resume Tomorrow

September 14, 2021. 4 PM Update

From the information Port Arthur Emergency Management officials  have received from the National Weather Service, Port Arthur will experience from 1 - 2 inches of rain on Wednesday.  Emergency Operations and City Administration ask that residents and business owners remain vigilant for the duration of the Hurricane Season. There are other disturbances that the team is monitoring, and we will keep the public informed.

NWS Outlook: 

"Nicholas has continued to weaken today, and will be a tropical depression later this evening, before dissipating by Wednesday or Thursday in Southwest, South Central, or Central Louisiana.
Wind gusts of 25 to 45 mph will continue through this evening for southwest Louisiana. A few power outages will be possible. Gusts will be 20 to 30 mph across the remainder of the region. Winds will taper off after midnight.
Additional rain of 1 to 8 inches is expected through Friday, with the higher values in South Central and Central Louisiana, and lower values in Southeast Texas.
Tides will be 1 to 1.5 feet above normal tonight. Minor coastal flooding is possible during high tide.
There is only a marginal [5% chance] for tornadoes tonight and tomorrow in parts of South Central Louisiana."

Port Arthur Public Services:

  • City Hall will resume regular business on tomorrow, September 15, 2021.

  • Solid Waste residential garbage collection will resume as follows:

    • Tuesday's routes will be collected tomorrow, Wednesday, September 15.

    • Wednesday's routes will be collected on Thursday, September 16.

    • Thursday's routes will be collected on Friday, September 17.

  • All city buildings will resume business on September 15 for regular hours.
