Field Operations Division/Patrol Officers

The Field Operations Division is the “backbone” of the Port Arthur Police Department. Port Arthur Patrol Officers are responsible for providing prompt, courteous service and protection to the citizens of Port Arthur 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  Units that are assigned to the Field Operations Division include:

  • Patrol Officers
  • Specialized Teams: FTO (Field Training Officers)
  • HNT (Hostage Negotiation Team)
  • SRT (Special Response Team)
  • SWAT (Specialized Weapons and Tactics) 
  • Advanced Accident Investigation Team (AAIT)

Patrol Officers work shifts that cover the city during the day, evening, and nighttime hours seven days a week. Their duties include, but are not limited to, crime detection and suppression, responding to calls for service, conducting preliminary criminal investigations, apprehension of criminals, traffic enforcement and accident investigation.

The Field Operations Division represents more than half of the department’s personnel making it the largest division within the Port Arthur Police Department. When fully staffed, the patrol division is comprised of 80 sworn Officers who are first responders to citizens’ needs. These individuals are the most visible members of the Port Arthur Police Department, providing safety and security to the citizens of Port Arthur.
