The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team is comprised of highly-trained police officers who are capable of handling dangerous situations that necessitate more than a routine police response. They are specifically trained to deal with “high risk” situations such as the service of search and arrest warrants, armed and barricaded suspects, mentally deranged and dangerous persons, and hostage rescue and negotiations. The Team uses highly sophisticated equipment, ranging from fully automatic weapons to specialized communication devices.

The Special Weapons and Tactics Team is ready and able to handle the most extreme law enforcement situations. Team members are a very dedicated and professional group of police officers who have made a total commitment to protecting the citizens of Port Arthur.
